Live blog from I-80

"it says Des Moines is only 30 miles why do we still have an hour to go?"

"cause our campsite is west of Des Moines."

"that stinks."

Folks, I am thinking that because we stopped and rested this trip feels like it is taking a very long time. We have stopped a few times for gas, rested for three hours and had breakfast, wandered around the charming town of Le Claire and that brings us to a total of 22 hours... And we still aren't there!

Right now in the family car: Lucy is napping, I am running on maybe 4 hours of sleep, big brother is driving.

The end is almost near.

We grabbed a good breakfast in Princeton, IL and made our way to Le Claire. A charming town where the show American Pickers is filmed and home to a Buffalo Bill museum. We couldn't get into Pickers (total bummer) but we did have a nice stroll around main street and the museum.

Here is hoping the GPS is right and we arrive at our KOA in less than 30 min!

  1. That picture of Lucy is awesome! Your trip looks like a freakin' blast though, and I love that you're all rocking the matching tees ; )
