Like a bridge over barely there water

On Saturday I drug Lucy and Big Brother out to experience the Bridges of Madison County.

We spent all day driving on dusty, gravel roads and taking photos. I loved it. My road trip companions,...egh... Let's just say seeing old bridges is not their idea of a great time.

We stopped in the charming town of Winterest, the birth place of John Wayne, for a great breakfast at the Northside Cafe. Lucy enjoyed the jumpy house they had set up for a BBQ festival while I walked around the town square and took photos. Charming charming town.

Pretty sure we saw 5 bridges. Wooden, old and recently restored. And beside most of them were new bridges that replaced the wooden gems. Out with the old and in with the new isn't always a good thing. Names and writings covered the inside of all the bridges. Everyone leaving a little something behind. Sweet and bittersweet all at the same time.

As we made our way out of Madison County we passed the Madison County Winery and Big Brother said you want to stop? Duh!

A few samples of wine later, one Sprite for Lucy and a few samples of beer for Big Brother... We left their with a case.

It's just what I do.

We made our way back for our last night in Iowa.

A night full of packing, organizing, playing basketball, more hot dogs, watching Lucy get FOUR Yahtzees! FOUR!

We drifted off to sleep around 10pm and were outta of our KOA spot at 3am.

On the road again.
