A Little Girl Talk from Pam101: Slow down summer

Brunch with Spice in the Strip District

Dear Summer,

You've been really good to me so far this season.  You have rained enough that I don't have to worry to much about watering my flowers but yet you bring sunshine on most weekends.  You haven't been too incredibly hot yet.  I mean a bit muggy on somedays but not brutal yet.  You have allowed Lucy and Will to enjoy summer sports, sidewalk chalk murals and time at the pool. You have given me good summer reads, that I can't put down and have me up too late on work nights.  You've given me fun weekends with friends, time at Dana's new pool and sun-kissed shoulders. And most recently (last night) you randomly surprised me with a visit from the Spice's that lead us to checking out the West End overlook and because of that random and most welcome surprise, we were able to watch a wedding of a lesbian couple.   So, what is it that I am writing you for.

I am asking you to slow down a bit.  Too just hit the breaks a bit.  How in the world is it possible that it is almost mid-July already.  Yes,  I am making the most of my evenings in the sun and weekends with friends/family but it is all just going by so damn fast.  There is so much I still want to do but yet I don't know where to fit it in. I want a vacation to New England- but when?  I want to take a day off and have coffee with Spice and Kylie in the charming neighborhood of Sewickley- but when? So much to do, but when.

So, summer...if you could just slow your roll a bit. Just stop spinning so fast.  Unless the lesson in all this is to enjoy and savor every moment? Which, I can tell you I already do. I have always done.

Either way, I will continue to enjoy these summer days where the sun doesn't set until 9pm and the birds are chipping at 5:30am.

Time to find some sunscreen and go outdoors...

Hey Girl is loving these long summer days.
