As mentioned Boo has always wanted attend one of my dinner parties. And with her in the great city of Pittsburgh for a few days...I knew I could make it happen!
Check that off the bucket list, Boo!
Last night I hosted the DiSilvestro's and the Spice's over to Pam101's place for a Parisian inspired/Julia Child filled meal. A meal filled with bacon, BUTTER (so much butter), delicious wine and lots and lots of happiness! I had five courses and I even platted and served my guests. I'll post more on the recipes I used later.
Course 1: Mussels in wine sauce, Julia Child recipe
Course 2: Asparagus, Bacon and Egg salad, Dorie Greenspan recipe
Course 3: Roasted chicken with potatoes, onions and bacon, Julia Child recipe
Course 4: Cheese, purchased in the Strip District and were amazing
Course 5: Chocolate and Almond cake, Julia Child recipe
I would say it was a MAJOR success. I would say favorite dish was the salad!
As always with a Pam101 party...I followed my steps. You remember the steps don't you? Click Here for a reminder. But in a nutshell the steps are: Prep early, Have a great tablescape, Have delicious food, Take help if you need it, Invite people you love and Always take photos!
Bon Appetit!
Phase I: Prep
Phase II: Tablescape must rock!
Phase III: Delicious Food! (I have never spent so much time prepping a meal. I boiled onions and potatoes for the chicken then fried them and roasted them, I whipped egg whites for a cake, I cleaned and scrubbed mussels, I blanched asparagus, I soft boiled eggs and then reheated them in bacon fat...the French take their food seriously!)
Phase IV: Let your friends help!
Phase V: Invite people you love.
Final Phase: Always have your camera!
