InStyle brings us some summer hairstyles
Fishtail Braid
WHAT MAKES IT COOL The intricacy of the fishtail is a fun twist on the side-braid trend, says Lewis's stylist Ben Cooke.
GET IT (DON'T SWEAT IT!) 1. Pull hair to one side, but don’t secure. 2. Divide into two even pieces. 3. Take a small section of hair from under one of the pieces and wrap it over that section and under the other. 4. Repeat, alternating sides through the length of the ponytail. 5. Secure with a clear band, then gently massage braid to pull out stray strands.
Ballerina Bun
WHAT MAKES IT COOL Sleek in the front, texured in the back—and a lot easier than it looks. “It's a sophisticated updo that emphasizes the cheekbones,” says Tresseme stylist Craig Gangi, who created the look.
GET IT (DON'T SWEAT IT!) 1. Apply anti-frizz cream to damp strands and blow dry straight. 2. Pull hair into a high ponytail, secure with an elastic. 3. Twist strands around the base of the ponytail, pinning as you go. 4. Tease along the bottom of the bun to keep it from feeling too prim.
Undone Pony
WHAT MAKES IT COOL Volume at the crown combined with loose, face-framing layers give this ponytail a sexy '60s-bombshell feel. “It has a modern shape that’s chic but effortless-looking,” says Jessica Biel’s stylist, Adir Abergel.
GET IT (DON'T SWEAT IT!) 1. Spritz texturizing spray on damp hair and let air-dry (this style also works well on the naturally gritty texture of hair that hasn’t been washed in a day). 2. Back-comb lightly at the crown for lift. 3. Pull into a ponytail at ear level and secure with an elastic. 4. Loosen pieces around the face.
Thanks, InStyle
