Life according to my iBaby

And to think this is a bad year

This summer has been pretty brutal on many summer gardens. Too hot + too dry = sad sad garden.

But even in a bad summer garden season my parents garden produced some lovely produce.

This is one picking. Mom and I went up at sunset and picked until we couldn't see.

I'll start taking spaghetti sauce orders.

time to put your big girl pants on

As mentioned in last night's Girl Talk, I want to sell my condo.
Also mentioned my Dad didn't.

He called me last night. Ended the call by hanging up on me. Sigh.
He wins.
Don't have the energy to fight this one.

to be continued.

We're off to first grade!

Lucy had a great first day in the first grade.
The future is bright for this one.

A Little Girl Talk from Pam101: Choices and Decisions

Life is nothing but choices and decisions.
Have you ever thought about that?
From the minute we wake up until we go to bed we are making nothing but choices.
What am I wearing? Hair up or hair down? Salad or burger?  Take the phone call? Shave your legs? Join Match.com? Make dinner? Cut the grass? Sell your condo?

Sell your condo?

Yep, you heard me right.  This is the one choice that I am flip-flopping on about 100 times a day.  One moment I am 99% sure that I am going to sale and then that 1% slowly creeps over and spirals into 50%.

I am probably one of the most indecisive people you will ever meet.  I am not a good decision maker.

And this condo thing is probably one of the biggest decisions I have ever had to make.

Because how do you know you are making the right choice?  You can weigh all of the pros and cons. Pros: It's a sellers market, DC is a hot real estate market, I would make a profit, I have emotional said good bye to DC.  Cons- I will be walking away from an investment.

That is the only con.  But here is my justification to that con.  I will not make money off of this condo until I am almost 60. That is when my mortgage is up.  Does it make sense to hang onto a property for that long?  Maybe it does.  But for me...I feel as if I have made a decision.

I want to sell.  It's the right time. (even as I type that I feel that 1% uneasiness creep in)

Now, if only I can get my Dad to support this decision.  Because as of right now he isn't talking to me.  I want him to be on the same page with me on this.   I think I have said before that Papa101 and I are so much alike it is a problem. I understand where he is coming from and I just wish he would see my point.

I'll keep working on that.

For now...know that I feel as if I have made a big big decision. One that is bittersweet.

PS- if you are not a fan of choices don't go to Cheesecake Factory. WAY WAY WAY to many choices.
PSS- I picked the lipstick photo because this is another example of choices.  So many lipstick choices and I usually decide upon chapstick.

the wreath that will never be

For some reason I just always think things will be sorta easy.
Want to make a Halloween wreath? Sure, it'll be a piece of cake!
Buy a glue gun, pick up some stuff, search for vintage bits...glue it all together....TA DA!
Should only cost what like $40.00, right?

WRONG.

I popped into Michaels Craft Store on my way home to pick up the basics. A wreath, some glittery bits to glue on, some skulls, etc.

$124 dollars later.

It is all going back tomorrow.

Totally just buying one off of Etsy. It's already put together and it a lot cheaper than what I can do on my own.

Can you smell the pumpkin spice?

I am starting to feel Fall. Cool nights that making sleeping heavenly.
I am starting to see Fall. I have seen mums, pumpkins, flannel and some changing leaves.
I am in full on Halloween planning mode.
I love it.

Thank you to the worlds greatest Aunt for sending me this lovely owl. He is proudly sitting on my mantel ready to welcome fall into my home

Whoooooo else is ready?

Super wonderful fun family friday

Pam101, Mom101, Lucy and Will had the most wonderful Friday!

Spent the day celebrating Lucy's 6th birthday (which is tomorrow)!

Saw How to Train Your Dragon at Consol Energy Center, which was fantastic! Visually stunning!

The family and I headed to the Pittsburgh Children's Museum. That place is great!

Then we made pre 6th birthday pizza.

Like I said.. It was a pretty perfect day!

A Little Girl Talk From Pam101: My body, My right

Pam101 usually steers clear of politics. I just have my opinions and tend to keep them to myself.  But after this week's comments from Missouri Republican Representative Todd Akin on "legitimate rape", I felt like I needed to say something.

As a woman, let me clarify, a strong independent democratic woman, I feel that absolutely NO ONE can tell me what i can and cannot do with my body.  Last time I checked, it is mine. I own this body.  I can do with it as I please.  And no one, especially some man, who I don't know, who I didn't vote for, should have the right to tell me what to do with it.

And here we are gearing up for another election. One that is proving to be difficult. Where masses of people actually believe in their heart of hearts that it is OK for someone to make decision for you.  How is that right? How is that fair? Who gives them the right to decide whether or not a woman can get an abortion or birth control?

Bottom line is: it isn't right and isn't fair.

I saw that McHottie had posted this article on her FB page, so I read it, and I was moved. It is some powerful stuff. I encourage all of you to read Even Ensler's opinion piece on the Huffington Post.  You can find it by clicking HERE.

Things I am currently into

1. Toms  (Dear Santa, you can't go wrong getting me a pair).

2. Wanting a bike. I had one in DC and sold it. I never EVER used it. But I feel like I would use one now.

3. Wanting to make a giant, awesome and glittery Halloween wreath. Searching Etsy for inspiration. Recruiting my sister-in-law to help me with this project. Time to dust off the hot-glue guns. Maybe every Pam101 reader should have a Halloween wreath making day and send me all their photos! Here is some crafty inspiratioin!

4. Want to check out the Great Allegheny Passage this fall. Maybe take my bike there?!

5. InStyle's Fall Fashion issue has arrived. I want every single thing I see. Must win Powerball. Must lose 100 pounds. Must burn magazine so I can't stop the depression.
