A good piece of art for a DC lover

This map accurately depicts the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of Washington DC using nothing but type. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete.

Using text sizes that are about half as big as those on the Chicago map we were able to cover almost all of the District. Of course, we've included all of the streets and many world-renowned places in between, like the White House, National Mall, and Capitol Complex. DC's famous traffic circles, such as Dupont and Logan, are playfully shown centered on large bullet point symbols. Eye-catching waterways, like the Potomac and Anacostia, are depicted as white text flowing on a dark blue background.

Closing Time....

The Pens had their last day together of the season today. Time for summer vacation...

Pens captain Sidney Crosby said that he had to tone down his on ice workload the past few days after experiencing a setback on his recovery from a concussion:

"I was working out and skating, but had a little bit of symptoms so I had to take a step back," Crosby said. "All the stuff that comes with it. Up to that point the progression had gone pretty well, but at the same time I still wasn’t ready.

"(It's) frustrating. My expectation was that I wouldn’t play, but I was trying to make sure that if there was any chance and it was possible to comeback, that I was ready and did everything I could to be ready for that. It’s frustrating and disappointing. You can’t really control any of that. All I can control is what I was doing off the ice and trying to rehab. Unfortunately it didn’t work out."

Congrats to Ann!

Saying Goodbye to the Best Boss on TV

I love Lily of the Valley

Symbolism was key in the small bouquet Catherine carried, designed for her by Shane Connolly. In addition to the flower sweet William, the bouquet included lily-of-the-valley (for return of happiness), hyacinth (constancy of love) and ivy (for fidelity, marriage and affection). Also key to the arrangement were stems from plants grown from sprigs of the bridal bouquets of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

Wrapping up my Royal Wedding posts with this lil highlight reel...

Off to consumate their marriage (before Reception 2 starts)....

The newlyweds traded in their horse-drawn transportation for an Aston Martin convertible complete with a classic license plate: "JU5T WED."

Driving away from Buckingham Palace through the Mall Friday afternoon – William in the driver's seat – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge smiled and waved to well-wishers.

On the front of the vehicle was a red letter "L" – which stands for "learners permit."

Next stop for the newlyweds: Prince Charles is throwing a dinner dance at 7 p.m. London time for about 300 guests at the palace.

Let's them eat cake!

Thank you, Vanity Fair!

That’s the wedding cake! It’s eight tiers, designed by Fiona Cairns, and decorated using a style known as the “Joseph Lambeth Method” of piping—so, probably not Funfetti. There are 17 different varieties of floral motifs on it, including the white rose (the symbol of England), the daffodil (the symbol of Wales), the shamrock (the symbol of Scotland), and the thistle (the symbol of Scotland). For a look at other, many-tiered royal wedding cakes, see our survey of history’s best. As for the savory offerings that the wedding attendees are enjoying right now at Buckingham Palace, read on—we’ve taken the liberty of arranging them from least to most British-sounding.

Preppin for The Royal Wedding Watch Party

As many of you know Pam101 is having some Kings, Queens, Princesses and Duchesses over after work  (yes, Royalty in DC have to work during the day) to watch the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. God Bless the Queen and my DVR.

Pam101 was a fair queen. Does that make me royalty?
Vampires love weddings.

Champagne is chilling as we speak.

Making scones

Yes, I am taking a short cut and using store bought eclairs.

Co-worker gave me articles from London newspapers.

For my guests.

Making the Queen proud.

Pam101's Mom and Dad make a note....

Carole Middleton, The Queen and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall
If Pam101 ever gets married we will have to have the following things:

1. Our guests must wear hats.
2. We must have lots of men in uniform lining the streets.
3. I want a carriage. A real one not just a horse and buggy.
4. I want to budget for a dress with lots of lace.
5. The day must start early with the wedding, followed by the 1st reception for all the guests and then a 2nd reception/dinner for BFF's only followed by a rocking all night party that serves bacon sandwiches.

Now...if only I can get Sidney Crosby to notice me...

Few thoughts on Pippa:
1. I love the name.
2. She has no ass or is it arse.
3. She is stunning.
4. I wonder if at like most weddings the MOH hooks up with the Best Man? Watch out Harry.
5. Wonder why she also wore white?
Answer to #5.Turns out, British traditions are different than American ones. An old superstition says that bridesmaids and groomsmen should dress similarly to the bride and groom to ward off evil spirits.

MOH's carry the train.

If Pam101 ever gets married I am making Will dress like this!

William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge.

Leaving the Abbey

I have always been a Prince Harry fan

Prince Harry is king of the kids—he rides with a page boy and two bridesmaids in an open carriage.

If this is heart just flip flopped!

Found on Twitter this AM:
Apparently what Harry said to William when Kate was approaching - with a grin: "wait til you see her." Can you die now? #royalwedding
