My Bosses Are Bad Ass!!!!

Reminder- Pick up August's issue of Vanity Fair....here is the article on Politico!

Politico’s Washington Coup
Four old-media veterans may have solved the future of news with the Politico Web site, whose audience of six million obsessives and insiders consumes–and feeds–a real-time download of power data. The twist? Politico’s print version is what’s helped make it profitable.

Tutu's, Tubetops and Manolo's

UK magazine Grazia dropped a big sartorial bomb this week: Patricia Field may not style the next Sex and the City film. Apparently, she doesn’t have the same vision for Carrie Bradshaw that SJP does—Parker wants to transform the writer from fashionista to a more toned-down recession friendly icon, and Field is having none of it. “I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity,” she told Grazia. You have to hand it to Pat for being as over the top and uncompromising as usual, but…really? We couldn’t help but wonder: How can SATC live without Field’s funky inspirations?

I bet there is a million dollar gem in the top of my parents garage!

Say hello to the world’s luckiest woman: According to Reuters, A woman “who inherited some Chinese carved jade from her father has scored the first $1 million appraisal from experts on the U.S. television program ‘Antiques Roadshow,’ the producers said on Monday.” The four jade and celadon pieces are from the Chien Lung Dynasty (1737-1795) and include a bowl crafted for the emperor. They were given a conservative estimate of $1.07 million. “For 13 years, we've been hoping to feature a million-dollar appraisal on Antiques Roadshow; it's been our 'Great White Whale,'" said the show’s executive producer.

Reason 189 that I want to be rich

Yesterday at the Oscar de la Renta boutique on Madison Avenue, waiters carrying silver trays offered lemonade, white wine and Apple & Eve juice boxes. It was the launch of the designer’s first girls’ dress collection, and New York’s most polished mommies and preschoolers dutifully showed up. The collection, de la Renta’s first for children, does not hold back. Think: elaborate pleats, cap sleeves and ruffles in gorgeous fabrics (like a silk chine taffeta) that a trophy wife would weep over. The prices range from $220 to $330; the designer is donating $100 per dress to the Children’s Defense Fund.

These have been around for a while but they are still smoking HOT

White House Honors Stonewall, from The Daily Beast's Cheat Sheet

President Obama hosted leaders of the gay and lesbian communities at the White House Monday—but it may have been too little too late. In an event to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots, Obama promised to renew his campaign promises, like his commitment to repealing the Defense of Marriage Act, overturning Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and vowing to pass a federal hate-crime bill named for Matthew Shepard, a gay college student who was killed in 1998. And though many have criticized Obama on gay rights policy so far, Monday he was largely met with support. Said Joe Solmonese of Human Rights Campaign, and a former Obama critic, “He reminded us to continue to hold him accountable. There certainly was the appropriate and inspiring acknowledgment that he made of what this community has been through.”

Chris Brown was a no-show at Sunday night's BET Awards because producers pulled his performance at the last minute.

According to several insiders, Brown's appearance was considered risky business on a night honoring Michael Jackson. The "No Air" singer is facing negative publicity after pleading guilty to the February assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Might as well throw the key away: A judge gave Bernard Madoff the maximum sentence of 150 years on Monday—the longest sentence ever for a financial criminal. Fitting, since Madoff’s Ponzi scheme was the largest crime in financial history. Earlier in the day, Madoff said that he "will live with this pain, this torment, for the rest of my life."

I love remake's of the 80's!

Who knew shape-shifting robots were so universal? Director Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, rocked the U.S. box office this weekend with $112 million—its next closest competitor was The Proposal, with a puny $18.5 million—but it also dominated foreign box offices, finishing first in all international markets. The poorly reviewed film brought in a staggering $162 million from foreign screens, for an overseas total of $181.6 million. The movie’s global gross is now $363.2 million. Despite the eye-popping figures, however, it failed to land a record for a foreign box office launch: Finishing before it internationally are the 2007 hits Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Spider-Man 3, and 2006’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

A Luau at the White House

WASHINGTON - Straw huts, hula dancers and kids playing with hula hoops were all on display Thursday evening in the White House's backyard -- not the typical congressional picnic.

President Barack Obama wanted it this way for the annual picnic for members of Congress and their families.

"I just want to say to all the members of Congress, you've been working hard. I wish I could give you all trips to Hawaii," Obama said in his brief remarks. "But I figured since, given our budget crunch we can't do that, that we'd at least bring Hawaii to you."

The Obama White House turned its first congressional picnic into a Hawaiian luau, in celebration of the president's home state. Tents were set up on the South Lawn, tiki torches lined the perimeter, and potted palm trees were brought in. More than 2,000 guests, many wearing leis and sipping drinks, were scattered on the South Lawn under the blue sky.

I once was in a dunking booth...

JT and Madonna are Sad

"We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only Pop music but of all music," Justin Timberlake, who was clearly influenced by Jackson, wrote on his Web site. "He has been an inspiration to multiple generations, and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him on stage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones."

"I can't stop crying over the sad news," Madonna says. "I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" who once moonwalked above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback bid to vanquish nightmare years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. He was 50.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Farrah Fawcett Dies of Cancer at 62

Farrah Fawcett, who skyrocketed to fame as one of a trio of impossibly glamorous private eyes on TV's Charlie's Angels, has died after a long battle with cancer. She was 62.

Fawcett died at 9:28 a.m. PST on Thursday at St. John's Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif. She was with longtime partner Ryan O'Neal, friend Alana Stewart, friend and hairdresser Mela Murphy and her doctor Lawrence Piro. She had recently returned to St. John's for treatment of complications from anal cancer, first diagnosed three years ago.

"She's gone. She now belongs to the ages," O'Neal tells PEOPLE, also confirming that she received last rites. "She's now with he mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now."

Earlier Post:

Farrah Fawcett, the 1970s "It Girl" who was known for her cascading golden hair, has been given her last rites; sources close to the actress tell Barbara Walters.
Enduring a two and half year battle with cancer, those closest to Fawcett warn that these could be her final hours. "I'm not sure if she's going to make it through the day," Walters said on "Good Morning America." "She's had her last rites."
As Fawcett clings to life, members of her inner circle, Dr. Lawrence Piro and longtime love Ryan O'Neal are gathered at her hospital bedside.
"This is all he wants to do is be with her," Walters said of O'Neal.
From her glory days as a pinup girl whose figure graced a generation of teenagers' walls, to her valiant fight against cancer, at 62, Farrah Fawcett has become a symbol of the will to live.
Those who know and love Fawcett spoke exclusively to Barbara Walters, during what appear to be the actress's final days.

So...I might have a new crush...

Jason Jones from The Daily Show. Funny, smart and the man can rock a beard.

Ambassador Rooney ???

WASHINGTON -- Steelers owner Dan Rooney took another step toward confirmation as ambassador to Ireland today with an appearance before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Mr. Rooney could be approved in a vote by the full Senate in the next few days, as there appears to be little to no opposition.

The comments of committee members Edward Kaufman, D-Del., Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H. -- the only members who stayed for the entire hearing -- focused on the economic difficulties in Ireland and admiration for Mr. Rooney.

"Mr. Rooney, you're having quite a year," said Mrs. Shaheen. "I'm not going to ask you whether it's better to win the Super Bowl or be nominated to be an ambassador."

"I'm not sure I can answer that," Mr. Rooney replied.

BLOEMFONTEIN, South Africa — The U.S. soccer team pulled off a major upset Thursday, beating top-ranked Spain 2-0 on goals by Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey.

The victory sends the Americans to the Confederations Cup final, and snaps Spain's 15-game winning streak. Spain hadn't been beaten since a loss to Romania in November 2006.

The United States is ranked 14th and was nearly eliminated after losing its first two games in the eight-nation Confederations Cup, a World Cup warmup.

The Americans will play defending champion Brazil or host South Africa on Sunday in its first men's final at a FIFA competition.

The longest award show...just got longer

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — The Academy Awards are doubling the number of best-picture nominees from five to 10.

Academy President Sid Ganis said at a news conference that the academy's board of governors made the decision to expand the slate. Ganis said the decision will open the field up to more worthy films for the top prize at Hollywood's biggest party.

The change takes effect with next year' Oscars on March 7.

The move is a return to Oscar traditions of the 1930s and '40s, when 10 nominees were common.

This cookbook looks perfect!

Stumbled across this cookbook on The Daily Beast. I might have to pick it up. Here is what chef Nigella Lawson says about it "Anything by Anna del Conte is a constant inspiration, but I am a "more is more" kind of person, and always open to a new culinary adventure. Right now, this is provided by Jennifer McLagan's new book, Fat. I turn the pages, salivating as I go".

He can cook too?!

Just got this hilarious email from my friend about this guy she has just started seeing:

He said “If you let me, I’ll come over and cook dinner for you sometime.” I was thinking that his idea of “cooking” would be to heat up some queso, serve it with chips and call it “dinner” – so responded:

“Oh yeah? What are you going to make me?”

“I dunno. Something stuffed with lump crab meat in a homemade lemon-rosemary butter sauce … maybe some grilled asparagus and wild rice on the side.”

I told him the kitchen was open. For him. Anytime.

If one of my cupcakes could talk

By now all 12 of you should know about the cupcake drama this morning. Well Najma just said that the cupcakes were delicious. I decided that if one of my cupcakes could talk this is what they would say..."I missed you...where have you been...you know I am soft and delicious...aren't you glad I am back...I have hot pink icing and I bring you joy".
Najma agreed that this is indeed what a cupcake would say.

Cupcake Take 1 and Take 2

Do they make infant Manolos?

It's double the joy for SJP and Matthew Broderick, who have welcomed twin girls, according to several local news outlets in Ohio.

A spokesperson for East Ohio Regional Hospital had no comment, but told PEOPLE "everything's good." Reps for the couple could not be reached for comment.

UPDATE: The girls were born Monday afternoon at an Ohio hospital, publicist Simon Halls said. Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 pounds and 11 ounces, and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 pounds.

Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker's side, Halls said.

Time to clean up trash

Chris Brown pleaded guilty Monday to assaulting Rihanna and the two were ordered to stay away from each other, in a deal that keeps the singer out of prison but requires him to clean up graffiti or roadside trash.

Wish I had car service

It was bound to happen...as all of you know tonight is the MM (Michael McDonald) concert with Milli and Naj. I told the girls I would be happy to make my signature cupcakes. I knew it would be a lot to carry- picnic backpack loaded up, large tote bag and a box full of beautiful cupcakes. I struggle out the door (extra early), get on the bus (hitting everyone with my backpack and tote bag) and squeeze into a seat (thanks to a little girl that moved). Bus stops to pick up old lady with cane...not one person moved from their front seat. Did I mention she was old and had a cane!? Hey, you two young kids without all the bags why don't you two move?? Ohhh nooo....so I move. Why do I move? Because I am nice and have manners. Picture this in slow motion...I start to stand but have to avoid hitting the tote bag so I shuffle a little and as the old lady starts to sit the cupcakes start to tip...NNNNOOOOO....I tried I tried so hard to catch them but I was to slow. They didn't hit the ground but the damage was done. 12 perfect cupcakes were now 12 perfectly wrecked cupcakes. A collective "aaawwwww" came from the bus as they all saw my accident. The only person who asked if I needed help and if I was ok (I must have looked like my dog got hit by car-my cupcakes are my babies) was the woman who took my seat. I make my way to the metro getting looks from all the commuters who are like "I hope she didn't pay for those cupcakes" starting to sweat from the backpack. What a sight.

Make it to Rosslyn (still hitting people with my backpack) and there is a man standing there holding his bible talking about God. Dude, why did God allow my cupcakes to get wrecked? Get to work....did my best to repair the damage. The amazingly kind Mike Allen tell s me...looks like nothing even happened. That made me feel a little better about the situation.

The good thing about cupcakes is no matter what they look like they still taste delicious!
Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Tomorrow is the Michael McDonald Concert!

I am going to see Michael McDonald at Wolf Trap tomorrow. The thing is...I really can't think of any songs he sings but I know as soon as the concert starts I will have heard more than half of them. For some reason I think they use him alot on commercials. Anyway...Najma and Milli said that they would buy my ticket if I made them cupcakes. Well ask and you shall receive.
Check out that hot pink icing.
